Here’s to a new Dimension

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always really liked the Ratchet and Clank games. One of my fondest memories with my brother would be the one summer where we just played the original Ratchet and Clank but we didn’t have a memory card for our PS2 at the time so we just kept the dang thing on and did everything in our power to keep it that way. So here we are with the release of Rift Apart, one of the three games that makes me want to use my brother’s PS5.

I’m going about things a bit different right now because I’m tooling with this as an idea for a new series that I can just bang out every once in a while for when I get super excited for a thing. I went with Rift Apart because, as I said at the beginning, I love Ratchet and Clank and it’s been a while since we got a new one of those. I tend to associate these games with fond memories or life milestones of any kind. The original and Going Commando were when I was mostly spending time with my brothers when we had time back in the day, Up Your Arsenal was one of the first games I bought with my own money, Tools of Destruction was the game we got with our PS3, A Crack In Time was a birthday gift, etc.

Rift Apart…I don’t know what I’ll associate with aside from it coming out six months before I turn 30. I also just want a game that looks bright, colorful, and ridiculous like that because I need that in my life to go alongside Guilty Gear Strive. The beautiful environments, the witty writing, ridiculous ass guns. I love all of that stuff and Rift Apart is looking to be more of that and I’m hype as heck for it. I want to see how Insomniac has iterated on these features and systems since the last time we got a new Ratchet game because they went and made two awesome Spider-Man games. That alone has made me more hype than normal aside from the stuff I just mentioned. Oh and the new character, Rivet. She seems like she could be a fun character.

So Yeah, this was less of a focused post compared to the usual stuff because I’m just listing and rambling about how excited I am for an upcoming video game and weirdly enough I don’t get to do that here very often. If you’ve stuck with it until now. Thanks for reading. We’ll be back with the regularly scheduled Chicanery next week.
